The Art of Rodney Pointer

Born and raised in the Chicago area, I've been an artist since childhood.  I use traditional painting techniques to create pop abstract art, with a dark fantasy theme.  Through the years I have been influenced by various cultures, and artists; Giger, Wayne Barlowe, Japanese animation, and African art to name a few.  I strive to create work that combines originality, contemporary social interest, and pleasing, yet sometimes shocking, eye candy.  I received a formal art education at Southern Illinois University, and Columbia College Chicago.  My continuing interest in social customs, and urban artforms has allowed a much broader view on how I perceive, and produce artwork. With a deep interest in abstract art, social norm bending, and pop imagery, my work blends into a multicultural soup, making me the cook - and the soup's very spicy.   My work has been shown in Chicago, and New Orleans.
