As a direct descendent of French painter James Tissot, Robert has paint in his blood. From a young age, Tissot was inspired by his father Jack Russell, who was a Prohibition-era speakeasy nightclub singer, and was the man who introduced Rob to the world of retro-pop culture when he was still in pre-school. While he is a child of the seventies, Tissot has always been drawn to the inherent style of his father’s hey day, in the form of classic films, television shows, and (of course) Pop’s extensive Playboy collection. (As he grew older, Rob realized that the magazines actually had articles!) Film classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and “Anything with Jerry Lewis!” started to form his world view at a very early age. This view has now been realized in the Tissot collection, a mix of pop art, with a hip, almost retro feel that invokes memories of a distant past, when life “Was A Kick In The Pants, Baby.” |
